Big weekend for the First XI, welcoming local rival Upwey-Tecoma to Belgrave South Recreation Reserve. The Tigers won the toss and batted first. With an early wicket, our boys were in control of the game, before Upwey-Tecome skipper Jackson Waters took control with a century to his name before he was caught by Daniel Cormack of the bowling of Ohlsson D'Sylva for one of his three wickets in the final few overs, with the Tigers setting 207 for our boys to chase down.
It was a shaky start to the SBCC innings, losing three wickets before hitting the half-century mark. Daniel Cormack started to steady the ship and was supported well by Mark Baker before he was dismissed for 31. Cormack was seeing the Upwey Tecoma bowlers throwing down beach balls as he powered his way to an unbeaten 116 not out, and led the side to their second win of the season.
It was a solid win for the SBCC.
